Does a Blackberry or any other Smartphone affect your chances of performing your tasks at work?
A Blackberry Smartphone is now a staple, there is at least one in most homes. It seems the best thing since sliced bread. There is no age barrier to owning a Blackberry. Someone once told me that a Blackberry is not a Blackberry if it’s not hooked up to a service. You are not allowed to own an Blackberry if you are not with a service and it is unheard of if you are not able to post on the social network showing that you do own one. I sometimes wonder if there was a time that people were able to operate without a Blackberry Smartphone.
For me, it is one of the most distracting gadgets to have been created. That constant pinging in your ears can not be good for your hearing. Even when it is off, there is still that annoying pinging. Most people who own one are not able to turn it off, as they don’t want to miss anything. How can that be healthy? How do you get work done if you constantly have to check your phones every minute you hear a ping? For the people who work and travel and use the calendars and other tools and apps, I can totally understand, as you need to be able to keep track of what’s going on in your mail and be on top of things at your office.
The other people who sit at a desk or are at home with no jobs, wouldn’t it be better if you focused on your jobs, or actually getting one? Being addicted to these phones will not only ensure that you don’t not have a job, but also that you lose it as soon as you get it. Not to talk about the whopping phone bills, how do you pay a phone bill if you are not employed, or are unable to focus on your job, so you are stuck in the same position, earning the same amount? I think the Blackberry, Samsung and other smart phones that take up all of your time is the devil’s tool to see to it that you fail. Facebook as well, but that’s for an entirely different post.
Yes, it is all good and well, you have this incredible phone that allows you to do EVERYTHING, and by that I mean everything and you don’t want to put it down. What if the medical research and studies that were concluded that revealed that cellular phones can cause cancer were true? What if the radiation from the phones really does cause cancer? Just think of how many people are not going to live long enough to see their grand or great-grand children. Everything in this life is supposed to be used in moderation, this is no different. This is why it is so hard to find people who are sociable, because its easier for them to text someone than go to visit them. Don’t you think it is time to text less and interact with people more?
What about all of the people who have died or sustained injuries in car crashes because of their addiction to cell phones and texting? I cannot fathom why a person would knowingly place their life in danger because of a gadget. I’ve seen people on the road, texting, laughing, chatting on their phones and not paying attention to the road. Not everyone has the mental acuity to use a phone while they are driving. Those are the ones who inadvertently perish and leave their families behind to pick up the pieces. People are robbed and killed because of their phones. Is this how important your life is? Sadly, when you look at it, is actually the same value of a cellular phone.
