There is only one social network that is specifically created for a black community. That is Blackplanet. It allows users to interact and have fun with other members of similar ethnic background. It is geared towards African American members and is not like other social networking sites that can be used by every one. The founder of Blackplanet, Omar Wasow, did so in 1999 and sold the site to Radio One along with the parent company for Blackplanet, Community Connect Inc. They provide users with jobs, chat, forums, photo sharing, dating, normal interaction and other activities that are geared towards the black community and their interests. The amount of users have increased each day since inception. Users are able to sign up to the site for free on a platform that can be easily navigated.
